A simple, relatively inexpensive, tee-specimen for testing fatigue behavior of longitudinal fillet weldments under axial stress has been developed. The specimen design has the advantage that the fillet weld ends outside the highly stressed test area and the neutral axis lies in one plane. Fatigue tests at R = 1/2 comparing the tee-specimens with beam specimens showed good correlation.
